About the Scheme

The Kanyashree Prakalpa is a social welfare initiative aimed at empowering girls by providing financial aid. The scheme is designed to prevent child marriage and encourage girls to pursue education, thereby enhancing their social and economic status. Benefits are transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

Kanyashree K1 & K2 Components

The scheme provides two main types of grants:

  • Annual Scholarship (K1): An annual grant of ₹1,000 is provided to unmarried girls between the ages of 13 and 18 who are enrolled in class 8 or above in a recognized educational institution.
  • One-time Grant (K2): A one-time grant of ₹25,000 is paid to girls who turn 18, provided they are unmarried and enrolled in an educational or vocational pursuit at the time of application.

An annual family income cap of ₹1.2 lakh applies, though exceptions are made for girls with a disability of 40% or more, or those who have lost both parents.

How to Apply and Check Status

The application for Kanyashree is done through the educational institution where the girl is studying. The online portal allows for easy tracking of the application status.

  • Application Process: Girls must collect and submit the application form (K1 or K2) from their school or college. The institution's head of office verifies the details and submits the application online.
  • Status Check: To track your application, you can visit the official portal and use your application ID, date of birth, and year to check the status.
