Overview of the Arogyasri Scheme

The Dr. YSR Aarogyasri Health Care Trust in Telangana is a government initiative that provides free healthcare to eligible families below the poverty line. Formerly known as Arogyasri, the scheme offers comprehensive coverage for a wide range of medical treatments and surgeries in both government and private empanelled hospitals. The trust's official website serves as a central hub for beneficiaries to access information, check eligibility, and find empanelled hospitals.

Key Features and Services

The Arogyasri scheme is designed to provide financial protection against catastrophic health expenditures. Key features include:

  • Financial Coverage: The scheme provides financial coverage of up to ₹2 lakh per family per year for treatment of over 2,400 medical and surgical procedures. For certain conditions like cancer, the coverage can be up to **₹5 lakh**.
  • Empanelled Hospitals: A vast network of private and government hospitals across Telangana is empanelled under the scheme, ensuring that beneficiaries have access to quality healthcare.
  • Cashless Treatment: The scheme operates on a cashless basis. Once the patient is admitted to an empanelled hospital, the entire treatment process is managed by the hospital's Arogyamithra, and the hospital directly claims the payment from the trust.
  • Follow-up Services: The trust also covers follow-up services for up to one year after the surgery.
  • Online Services: The official portal allows beneficiaries to search for hospitals, check their eligibility, and get information on various procedures covered.

How to Avail the Scheme

To benefit from the Arogyasri scheme, you must have a valid Aarogyasri Health Card.

  1. Check Eligibility: The scheme is primarily for families holding a white ration card. These cards are issued to families below the poverty line.
  2. Visit an Empanelled Hospital: If you or a family member needs treatment for a condition covered under the scheme, visit a nearby empanelled hospital.
  3. Provide Health Card: Show your Aarogyasri Health Card at the hospital's help desk. An Aarogyamithra (a health assistant) will verify your details and guide you through the process.
  4. Treatment and Discharge: The hospital will handle all paperwork and approvals with the trust. The patient receives cashless treatment, and after discharge, the hospital submits the claim to the trust for reimbursement.
