The **Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana (SSBY)**, also known as **Ayushman Bharat - Mukh Mantri Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana**, is a flagship health insurance scheme of the Government of Punjab. Launched to provide financial protection to economically vulnerable families, the scheme offers cashless treatment for a wide range of secondary and tertiary care hospitalizations. It aims to reduce the financial burden of healthcare on families and ensure access to quality medical services in both public and empanelled private hospitals.

Key Benefits and Coverage

The scheme provides comprehensive health coverage with the following key benefits:

  • Financial Cover: A cashless health insurance cover of up to **₹5 lakh per family per year**.
  • Treatment Packages: The scheme covers over **1579 secondary and tertiary medical care packages**, including surgical and medical treatments.
  • Hospitalization Expenses: It covers hospitalization expenses, daycare surgeries, pre-hospitalization costs for 3 days, and post-hospitalization expenses for 15 days.
  • Cashless Service: Beneficiaries can avail of cashless treatment at over 900 empanelled hospitals across Punjab and Chandigarh.

Eligibility Criteria

SSBY is an entitlement-based scheme, and families from the following categories are eligible for the benefits:

  • Families covered under the **Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011**.
  • **Smart Ration Card** holder families.
  • **Small and marginal farmers** with a J-Form.
  • **Construction workers** registered with the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
  • **Accredited journalists** with a yellow card.
  • **Small traders** registered with the Excise & Taxation Department.

How to Get Your E-Card

Eligible beneficiaries are identified through official data and do not need to apply for enrollment. To avail the benefits, you need an e-card, which can be generated at your nearest service center. The steps are as follows:

  1. Check Eligibility: Visit the official portal to check if your family is included in the beneficiary list.
  2. Visit a Service Center: Go to your nearest **Sewa Kendra** or a **Common Service Center (CSC)** with a valid identity proof and your eligibility document (e.g., Smart Ration Card, J-Form).
  3. Register: The operator will verify your details and register you to generate your family's e-card.
  4. Download Card: You will receive a physical e-card, which you can use for cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals.
