Overview of Ration Card Services in Odisha
The Government of Odisha, through its Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, has digitized the management of ration cards to ensure transparency and efficiency in the Public Distribution System (PDS). Citizens can now access a range of services online, including applying for new cards, checking beneficiary status, and updating existing card details. These services are available for both the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS).
Applying for a New Ration Card
The application process for a new ration card is conducted online through the official portal. Follow these steps to apply:
- Visit the official Food Odisha portal and navigate to the 'Citizen Services' section.
- Click on 'Apply New Card' under either the NFSA or SFSS section, depending on your eligibility.
- Fill out the online application form with all the required personal and family details.
- Upload the necessary documents, such as address proof, identity proof (Aadhaar), income certificate, and photographs of family members.
- After submission, you will receive an application number to track your status.
How to Check Beneficiary Status
You can easily check if your name is on the beneficiary list or the status of your application online. This feature promotes transparency and accountability in the PDS.
- Go to the Food Odisha Transparency Portal: https://www.foododisha.in/TransparencyPortal.asp
- Select 'Distribution Status under NFSA' or 'Distribution Status of other Scheme'.
- Choose your **District**, **Block**, and **Fair Price Shop (FPS)** from the dropdown menus.
- The system will display the list of beneficiaries, where you can search for your name.
