Overview of Odisha Police Citizen Services

The Odisha Police has launched a comprehensive online portal as part of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) project. This portal allows citizens to file online complaints, including First Information Reports (FIRs) and reports for lost articles. The goal is to provide a seamless and transparent platform, saving citizens time and effort by allowing them to avail these services from home.

How to File an Online FIR (e-FIR)

The e-FIR service in Odisha is specifically for cases of **motor vehicle theft** under certain conditions. The following steps must be followed to register an e-FIR:

  1. Visit the official Odisha Police Citizen Services portal: https://services-op.odisha.gov.in/
  2. If you are a new user, you must first register on the portal.
  3. Log in to your account and navigate to the 'e-FIR' or 'Complaint Registration' section.
  4. Fill out the form with accurate details of the incident and your personal information.
  5. The system requires a self-certification that the stolen vehicle was not involved in any other crime and that the accused is unknown.
  6. After submitting the e-FIR, you will receive an SMS with a unique **Service Request Number**, which can be used to track the status.

How to File a Lost Article Report

The online Lost Article Report is a crucial service for citizens who have lost valuable documents (e.g., Aadhaar card, PAN card) or items (e.g., mobile phone). This report helps in obtaining new documents and is often required for insurance purposes. The process is separate from filing an FIR.

  1. Go to the Odisha Police Citizen Services portal and log in.
  2. Find and click on the 'Lost Property Registration' service.
  3. Provide all the details of the lost item, including its description, location of loss, and the approximate time.
  4. After submission, the system will generate a **Lost Property Registration Number** and a downloadable acknowledgment certificate.
  5. This certificate is a valid document for all official purposes and can be printed immediately.
