Overview of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY)

The Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) is a flagship health scheme launched by the Government of Odisha to provide universal health coverage to all eligible citizens. The scheme offers cashless treatment in both government and private empaneled hospitals. The objective of BSKY is to ensure that no one is deprived of quality healthcare due to financial constraints. The scheme is a significant step towards achieving universal health coverage for the people of Odisha.

Eligibility and Benefits

The BSKY scheme covers almost the entire population of the state. The beneficiaries are automatically enrolled based on their ration card status. The key benefits are:

• Who is Covered: All families holding a Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana (BKKY) card, National Food Security Act (NFSA) card, or a State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) card are eligible.
• Cashless Treatment: The scheme provides cashless treatment at all empaneled hospitals, with the government covering all hospitalization expenses.
• Health Coverage: Each family is entitled to cashless treatment up to ₹5 lakh per annum. For women members of the family, this coverage is extended to ₹10 lakh per annum.

How to Get and Use the BSKY Smart Health Card

There is no separate application process to enroll in BSKY. The government proactively identifies and enrolls eligible families. The process is as follows:

1. Issuance of Smart Health Card: Eligible families are issued a BSKY Smart Health Card. The card is distributed at designated camps at the Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) level.
2. Activation: The card is activated and can be used immediately for cashless treatment at any empaneled hospital.
3. Using the Card: Simply present your BSKY Smart Health Card at the hospital counter to avail of cashless treatment. The hospital staff will verify your details and proceed with the treatment.
