Overview of Startup India
The **Startup India** initiative by the Government of India aims to build a strong ecosystem for nurturing innovation and startups in the country. To qualify for benefits under the scheme, a company must obtain **DPIIT Recognition** from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
Benefits of DPIIT Recognition
Registering your startup and obtaining DPIIT recognition provides numerous advantages, including:
- Tax Exemptions: Eligible startups can avail a 100% tax exemption on profits for 3 consecutive years in a block of 10 years.
- Easy Compliance: Startups can self-certify compliance under 9 environmental and labour laws, simplifying the regulatory process.
- Intellectual Property Rights: The government offers up to 80% rebate on patent fees and 50% on trademark fees.
- Funding Support: Access to a Fund of Funds, which invests in SEBI-registered Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) that then provide capital to startups.
- Public Procurement: Recognized startups can participate in public procurement without prior experience or turnover criteria.
