Odisha State Scholarship Portal (OSSP)

The Government of Odisha has a unified Odisha State Scholarship Portal (OSSP) at scholarship.odisha.gov.in to streamline the process of applying for various scholarship schemes. This centralized platform ensures transparency and efficient disbursement of scholarships through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Students from diverse backgrounds, including those from ST, SC, OBC, and EBC communities, can find and apply for a wide range of scholarships here.

Key Scholarship Schemes

The OSSP hosts multiple schemes from various government departments. Some of the major scholarships include:

  • Post-Matric Scholarship: Administered by the ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department, this scheme provides financial assistance to students belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Backward Classes (EBC) for post-secondary education.
  • e-Medhabruti: A merit-based scholarship for meritorious students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and technical/professional courses.
  • Gopabandhu Sikhya Sahayata Yojana: A scheme offering financial support to eligible students who are pursuing their education after passing Class 12.
  • Junior Merit Scholarship: A merit-based scholarship for students pursuing higher secondary education in Class 11 and 12.

Application Process and Required Documents

The application process is entirely online and Aadhaar-based. Here is a general guide:

  1. Registration: Visit the OSSP portal and register using your Aadhaar number. You will need an OTP for authentication.
  2. Fill the Form: Log in with your new credentials and fill out the detailed application form with personal, academic, and bank details.
  3. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of the required documents, which typically include:
    • Aadhaar Card (Mandatory)
    • Passport-size Photograph
    • Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC)
    • Income Certificate (issued by a competent authority)
    • Domicile Certificate
    • Marksheet of the last qualifying examination
    • Front page of the bank passbook (showing account number and IFSC)
